First up: I'm ready to put the binding on yet another quilt. Yep! I'm getting in a rhythm and it's pretty darn fun. In fact, I can even listen to music now when I sew. Used to be it was just way too much to get a seam straight and listen to music at the same time. So, I am making a little bit of progress here.
On that note, here's what made me feel a little bit my age in years (41) today: I was trying to find some good music to listen to. And I tried some of that new fangled stuff. You know, The Lumineers and so forth. And I was like: Cool man, I can dig it. But then I just turned on the Jackson Brown and I was like.....DEEP SIGH. Everything is right with the world. Then I listened to some Fleetwood Mac. And I was like...cool: I still kinda like a few of the songs after all these years.
And so, as I was sewing and listening to "The Mac" I was reminded that I once touched Stevie Nicks brand new fur coat. Now I know that sounds weird. Sure it does. See, about 15 years ago, years before I had met The Brad, I was aboard a private jet with Stevie and the rest of The Macs because I was dating the nice lad who was their back-up guitarist and they were on tour. And so, as I walked aboard the plane and by Stevie's seat, I was trying not to stare at her and be all star-struck. But right then, she asked me and the guitarist if we wanted to touch her coat because it was brand new and very fancy and soft. And I wasn't all into animal rights as much as I am now. So. You know. I was like...Sure.
Anyway, a lot of things come flowing back into the old memory when you sit on your butt and sew for many hours at a time. If Stevie asked me to touch her new animal fur coat now, I think I would be like...You know Ms. Nicks, all of Nature's creatures have a right to live. But. Let's let bygons be bygons, shall we? Those were my yesteryears. And it really is much better that they are yester. Know what I'm sayin'? Now I'm making a really nice quilt for someones baby. And I'm really a lot happier, truth be known. Much calmer, satisfied, healthier and the like.
Guess what else. Here's another random piece for you: I drink my coffee black now. It's cause I've had such a stuffy, runny, plugged nose and I can't have cream cause it tastes gross and makes me more congested. So, I think I'm really strong and buff and tuff and ruff and stuff for drinking black coffee. If you ever are feeling like a shallow peon, just drink some black coffee and you will fully want to wear a shirt that says: I rock in a very cool way.
Anyway, I think that's it for today.
