Wanna know how my elimination diet is going? Well....
Wheat, which is supposed to be the hardest to let go of, is actually the easiest part for me. Wheat pasta, crackers, bread, tortillas, naan, pita bread, all of it. It's so heavy man, you know? I am happy (for now) to say goodbye to wheat. And hello to white rice bread. Because I'm still a girl who has a thing for toast. Still "processed" but, until I have time to make my own bread, right? That's coming! Would it be weird if I told you I spread miso paste on it this morning? Ok. Then I won't mention that.
Dairy. I'm ok with letting go of cheese because feels like it "goo''s" my system. My TCM doc asked me what I'm eating when I'm feeling my best. And, well, cheese was not on that list. Have you ever heard someone say they feel so good and clean when they are eating a lot of cheese? Right. Sour cream and butter are a little more difficult. I accidentally put butter on my rice toast yesterday and didn't even think about it until last night. Old habits die hard. (I need to make some ghee.) And the fact that we are talking about dairy leads me to my only real issue on this diet: I could not give up my small morning cup of coffee. There. I've said it. And I even put a little cream in it. Gasp! Shame! Bad!
Ya. Well, sue me. Cause, consider this: I've done fine letting go of my evening alcoholic drink and that deserves major kudos. I can now work until 10 p.m. and not feel crabby and tired.
The Brad says he would rather feel like s*** than alter his diet....But the fact of the matter is, he doesn't feel like s*** and can get 6 hours sleep and feel great the following day! Plus he never "misses a morning," if you know what I mean (read: poop.) The guy can eat cheese and bread to his hearts delight and still have great elimination. It's really like the seventh wonder of the world. Whatever, Brad. Freaking showoff.
So. Do I feel better yet? If I said yes would you hate me? Then ok. I'll say no. (But I do feel pretty clear-headed, actually.) And when this next weekend or so passes, perhaps I will feel courageous enough to try some of the things you have offered to sip in the morning instead of coffee. (Hot water and lemon being the cruelest reply so far. Really? Do you hate me?)
I wanted to also remind you locals that some of my sewn sketches are now being sold at a brand new, amazing store in Ojai, CA called Fig Curated Living. No website yet, but here is the FB page. Also in Santa Barbara here . And I've put a few affordable smaller pieces up on Etsy today for those who live far and wide. (edited to add: most already sold, a few left and I will be putting more pieces up over the course of the week.)
Have a great rest of your weekend. & I will see you on the flip.
